Hull is a revitalised city following its success as 2017 UK City of Culture with that success attracting substantial investment in the city’s infrastructure and programmes. This has laid the foundations for the future with the city poised to become a recognised part of the nation’s tourism and heritage landscape.

Over the next two years, The Hull Yorkshire’s Maritime City project (Home | Maritime Hull (en-GB) )will complete the refurbishment and preservation of four historic maritime sites and two historic ships. Once complete visitors will chart a course through Hull’s history, exploring our connections and contributions to the UK and the world. The project has received a £15M grant from the National Heritage Lottery Funding (NHLF) and has significant funding from Hull City Council as well as other funders.

To date we have been extremely successful in raising funds but with the retirement of our fundraising manager we are now looking for a skilled fundraiser to maintain this momentum and support the project in achieving its funding targets to deliver £1M of external funding by December 2025.

As the Head of Fundraising, Partnerships & Development you will lead on devising, developing and delivering, sustainable fundraising strategies and activities for the project, maximising funding opportunities and ensuring income targets are met. You will also maintain associated financial and other records, producing management and business reports as required.

You will work closely with the Hull Maritime Foundation a charity set up to support the work of the foundation as well as members of the project team and museums and galleries team.

You will be experienced in approaching and securing funding from a wide range of public funders, trusts & foundations, private and public sector organisations as well as managing a varied portfolio of supporters whilst developing other prospects.

The strategic nature of this post means you will possess influencing and negotiating skills in addition to high level communication expertise in public relations and media management.

You will be a confident, highly motivated and politically aware individual with the ability to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including, senior managers, project staff, local residents, potential sponsors, and private sector partners.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a key player in the team playing a central role in the regeneration of Hull, to experience a huge cultural development project and develop your fundraising skills further.
