Hull Maritime is one of the most ambitious cultural regeneration projects in the UK and a once in a generation initiative that will redefine how Hull’s maritime story is told.
This high-profile capital project will unite five city centre historic sites, including Hull Maritime Museum, Arctic Corsair, Spurn Lightship and North End Shipyard, creating a world-class visitor experience that celebrates the city’s unique heritage.
As Conservation & Engagement Officer, you will play a pivotal role in this landmark project. From leading the assessment and installation of maritime collections to overseeing conservation priorities and engaging volunteers, your work will directly shape the future of Hull’s cultural landscape.
In this career defining role you will:
- Contribute to delivery of a project that will raise Hull’s profile across the UK and beyond.
- Provide hands on leadership through supervision of conservation activities, managing budgets and coordination of specialist expertise.
- Support community engagement through development of volunteer-led conservation initiatives and inspiring public interest in heritage preservation.
- Work with historic vessels, rare artefacts and a dedicated team to deliver a legacy for future generations.
We are looking for:
- A graduate qualification in object conservation (or equivalent).
- Experience in museum or heritage conservation, with strong practical skills.
- Ability to manage volunteers, supervise staff and work to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
